Privacy notice

This notice explains how MC Builders & Son Limited (“we”) uses the personal details you give us through this website, by phone or by email. We're the controller of that information. If you have any questions, email info@mcbuilders.uk.

What we collect and why

• Enquiries. When you use the contact form we receive your name, your email address and anything else you choose to give us, such as your phone number, town or postcode and details of your project. We use this to reply to you and prepare a quote. Our lawful basis is taking steps you've asked for before entering into a contract.
• Quotes, invoices and jobs. If we quote for or carry out work for you, we keep your name, address, phone number and email address with the quote, invoices and payment records. We need these to carry out our contract with you and to meet our legal obligations, including tax and accounting rules.
• Accepting a quote online. If you accept a quote using the link we email you, we record the name you type, the date and time, and a scrambled (hashed) version of your internet address, as a record of the agreement.

How long we keep it

Customer details on quotes that don't go ahead are deleted automatically 12 months after our last contact. For work we invoice, we keep the records for 6 years after the invoice date, as HMRC requires, and then your personal details are deleted automatically. We keep website enquiries only for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your information or use it for marketing. It's stored and processed for us by the companies that run this website and our email: Cloudflare (website hosting, database and spam protection) and Microsoft (our email). Customer details on quotes and invoices are stored encrypted. We share information with our accountant or HMRC where the law requires it.

Cookies and analytics

This website doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying you. We also use Cloudflare Turnstile on the contact form to block spam.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it unless the law requires us to keep it. To do any of these, email info@mcbuilders.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
